What to Expect
What kind of people come to Trinity Lutheran Church?
At TLC we are regular people, just like you! There are babies, kids, moms and dads, single folk, grandmas and grandpas. We are from all walks of life coming together in community realizing we all have one thing in common - we are all sinners in need of a Savior and that Savior is Jesus Christ. Spiritually speaking, you will encounter people who are all in different places in their spiritual journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time; others are returning and others have spent most of their lives in church.
What if I don’t normally go to church?
That’s OK. We have many people in our church for whom the church experience is new. We seek to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church. We also do our best to explain each element of the worship gathering so that people don’t get lost along the way. We want TLC to be a place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. If you don’t have it all figured out yet, that's OK... we don’t either.
What is the worship service like?
At TLC, we strive for an engaging and faith-strengthening worship environment. Worship services last 60-75 minutes and include classic hymns and spiritual songs, responsive readings, prayers, and readings from the Bible all meant to focus our hearts and minds on the forgiveness and wisdom of the living God. Our Pastor also presents a message from the Word of God to us in life-changing, heart-felt ways that applies to our daily lives.
What does the pastor usually talk about?
We believe that God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, so we present the ageless truths of the Bible in an engaging, relational format that’s easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church. At the core of the message each week is the Gospel – the good news that in Jesus Christ we are forgiven and restored in a relationship with God. We believe this message can change lives and relationships so we try to communicate it in fresh and meaningful ways each week.
What about my children?
Children are always welcome at TLC. We believe making a difference in the next generation is one of our highest priorities. We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be taught about God and his plan for the world in a fun learning environment. We have activity packets during worship for younger children related to our message and Sunday School classes for all ages. For more information on our children’s programs, click here.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Though there is no set dress code at TLC, most of our people dress on the casual side.
Can I invite my friends?
We would love for you to invite your friends. We do our best to be a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are looking to belong to a community of Christ-followers.
